Monolithic SMR
Suspended microchannel resonators (SMRs) have been recently discovered as highly sensitive platform to study bacteria and cells population. Unfortunately, the challenging fabrication process represents the main drawback for their implementation in new point-of-care devices. In collaboration with Femtoprint© we are working on an innovative monolithic approach based on femtosecond laser direct writing. This innovative technique enable to simplify and reduce the number of steps usually required, to work with a single and totally transparent material (fused silica glass) and to directly integrate the microfluidic interface for cells and bacteria handling.
